MPM2D Grade 10 Mathematics (Academic)

G10
Academic
1 credit

The academic Grade 10 course where math stops being one topic at a time: linear systems, quadratics and trigonometry all arrive in the same year. Factoring fluency and completing the square are built here — the exact skills MCR3U grades hardest.

What you’ll learn

Inside the course

Systems of linear equations: substitution and elimination

Analytic geometry: midpoint, distance and equations of lines

Quadratic relations: factoring, vertex form and word problems

Trigonometry of right triangles: primary ratios

Trigonometry of acute triangles: sine and cosine laws

Similar triangles and geometric properties

Where it leads

The gateway to MCR3U (Functions) and from there the whole senior U-level ladder. Students aiming at STEM or business programs should treat the quadratics unit as non-negotiable mastery.

Assessment & credit

Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.

How we run it

Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
