MHF4U Advanced Functions (Grade 12)

G12
University prep
1 credit

The Grade 12 course nearly every STEM, business and health-science program requires or expects in the Top 6. Polynomial, rational, logarithmic and trigonometric functions are pushed to full analytical depth — MHF4U is where a 90+ math average is either defended or lost.

What you’ll learn

Inside the course

Polynomial functions: factoring, graphs and inequalities

Rational functions and their asymptotic behaviour

Exponential and logarithmic functions and equations

Trigonometric functions: radian measure, identities and equations

Rates of change and characteristics of composed functions

Where it leads

Prerequisite (or co-requisite) for MCV4U and a named requirement for engineering, CS, science, math and most business programs. Take it before or alongside Calculus — never after.

Assessment & credit

Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.

How we run it

Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
