MCV4U Calculus and Vectors (Grade 12)
Ontario’s hardest standard high-school math credit, and the one engineering, computer science and mathematics programs name explicitly. Half the course is differential calculus, half is vectors in two and three dimensions — both halves show up on day one of first-year STEM.
Inside the course
Limits and the derivative from first principles
Derivative rules: product, quotient and chain
Curve sketching and optimization problems
Derivatives of exponential and trigonometric functions
Vectors in two and three dimensions: dot and cross products
Equations of lines and planes; intersections
Where it leads
Required for virtually all engineering and CS programs and for math-heavy commerce (Waterloo, UofT, Western Ivey pathways). Pair with MHF4U and SPH4U for an engineering-ready Top 6.
Assessment & credit
Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.

Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
