Course Policy

Covers semesters & tuition, discount rules, referral rewards, refunds, attendance & make-up credits, use of learning materials, electronic-device rules, and the student / parent code of conduct.

Last updated: 2026-05-15

1. Overview

STEMRise wants every student to benefit. This policy covers semesters & tuition, discount rules, referral rewards, refunds, attendance & make-up credits, electronic-device use, and the student / parent code of conduct — i.e. the entire course-related agreement.

Refunds are returned via the original payment method. Statutory cancellation rights — such as the 10-day written cancellation right under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act — take precedence over this policy. The rules below supplement, not replace, those rights.

Where the Chinese and English versions differ, the Chinese version prevails. Each order is governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.

2. Semesters & Tuition

STEMRise runs three semesters per calendar year: Spring (January – June), Summer (July – August), and Fall (September – December).

Accepted payment methods: Interac e-Transfer, cheque, or cash. All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD).

3. Trial Classes

Trial classes are typically free or low-fee. If a fee applies, a full refund is available before the session takes place.

If you book a trial but do not attend on time, and did not notify STEMRise of a reschedule or cancellation more than 24 hours before the trial start, the trial is forfeited and any trial fee already paid is non-refundable.

4. Multi-Course Discount

When the same student enrols in two or more courses within the same semester, a 10% discount applies to the lower-priced course(s).

Example: Jack enrols in Math G9 (tuition $760), Debate L2 Sr ($810), and Computer Fundamentals ($720). Math G9 and Computer Fundamentals (the two lower-priced courses) each receive a 10% discount.

The discount is calculated on the then-current list price of each course and does not stack with early-bird pricing or other promotional offers; the final invoice is authoritative.

5. Sibling Discount

Where the same family has two or more children concurrently enrolled at STEMRise, a 10% discount applies to the lower-priced course(s).

Note: the sibling discount and the multi-course discount cannot be combined — choose whichever yields the lower total for your family.

If one sibling withdraws or stops attending, the remaining sibling continues at the standard (non-sibling) rate from the following month onward; already-completed discounted sessions are not retroactively re-priced.

6. Referral Reward

When a referred student completes their first enrolment and pays for at least one STEMRise program, $25 in tuition credit is issued to BOTH the referrer and the referred party. The credit can only be applied to future tuition; it is not redeemable for cash and does not apply to registration fees, materials, events, or other non-tuition charges.

There is no cap on the number of referrals per referrer; however, a family's total accumulated referral credit cannot exceed the total tuition that family has paid at STEMRise.

Eligibility: the referrer must be a current STEMRise student or parent; the referred party must be a first-time STEMRise student or parent.

The referral relationship must be declared in writing (email info@stemrise.ai) before the referred student's first payment. Retroactive claims after payment are not accepted.

7. Refund Policy (effective Spring 2026)

This refund schedule applies to all regular class-based courses (Math, Coding, English, after-school tutoring, etc. — programs billed by class hour).

· From the date the student joins the course up to and including the 5th class: a refund may be requested. The tuition for the remaining classes is credited to the parent's Deposit balance; the parent may withdraw the Deposit via online banking using "Request Money".

· From the 6th class onward (inclusive): no further refund requests will be processed.

We recommend parents plan the student's schedule carefully before enrolling, or evaluate during the first five classes.

US / Canada admissions planning, long-term research mentorship, and other services billed at a contracted total are governed by Section 8 ("Long-Term Service Refunds") below. Summer / winter / spring camps follow Section 9 ("Camp Refunds").

To request a refund, email info@stemrise.ai with the student name, enrolled course, payment date, and reason for the refund.

8. Long-Term Service Refunds (Admissions Planning, Research Mentorship)

This section applies to services billed at a contracted total rather than by class hour.

· Requested 7 or more days before the service starts: full refund minus a 5% administrative fee.

· Within 7 days of start through the end of the first session: refund of the remaining amount minus a 10% administrative fee.

· After the first session and before 20% of total deliverables are completed: pro-rated refund of the un-delivered portion minus a 15% administrative fee.

· After 20% or more is completed: refunds are generally not available. In cases of force majeure (serious illness, move out of the GTA, etc.), submit a written request and we will review case-by-case.

OSSD credit courses: once the credit is registered, refunds are not available; you may discuss a course swap with the academic team.

9. Summer / Winter / Spring Camp Refunds

· Requested 30 or more days before camp start: full refund minus 5%.

· Requested within 30 days of start, before the camp begins: refund minus 20%.

· Requested on or after the camp start day, before 20% of the program is completed: pro-rated refund of the un-attended portion minus 25%.

· After 20% or more of the program is completed: refunds are generally not available; you may request to transfer the remaining balance to the next-season camp or to a regular-course package of equivalent value, to be scheduled within 90 days.

· Early-bird purchases: if you cancel after using the early-bird price, completed sessions and remaining balance are calculated at the standard rate.

10. Class Absence & Make-up Credits

STEMRise does not encourage class absences. To balance learning continuity with real-life schedules, we offer a limited number of absence-to-credit transfers for in-person regular courses.

In-person Fall / Spring semesters:

· Students who pay the full course tuition: up to 2 absence-to-credit transfers per semester, per course, per student.

· Students who pay 50% or more of tuition: up to 1 absence-to-credit transfer per semester, per course, per student.

· Students who pay less than 50% of tuition: no absence-to-credit transfers.

In-person Summer semester: 1 absence-to-credit transfer per student (full or ≥50% tuition only).

Credit settlement: credits are calculated from attendance records and posted to the parent's account at the end of each semester.

Online courses: because session recordings are available for catch-up, no absence credit is issued by default. If a recording is unavailable for a missed class, a credit is issued — capped at 2 credits per semester per student. Credits are NOT refundable and may only be applied to future STEMRise tuition. Submit absence requests by email to info@stemrise.ai with the reason for the absence.

11. Electronic Devices

During class time, the use of mobile phones, laptops, iPads, and other electronic devices is not permitted. Phones must be set to silent and kept in a bag or pocket; laptop / iPad lids should be closed when not in use (powering off is not required).

Students may use electronic devices only during break times, or with the teacher's permission, for reference or personal matters.

12. Code of Conduct for Students & Parents

Students should:

· Respect themselves, their peers, the teachers, and school property;

· Help keep classrooms tidy — tuck chairs in when leaving the desk, and dispose of your own waste;

· Play and interact with classmates safely;

· Exercise self-control and self-discipline in class;

· Arrive on time and come to class prepared;

· Report bullying or unsafe situations to a teacher or staff member.

Students must NOT:

· Engage in behaviour that may cause harm — e.g. running, chasing, pushing, slamming doors;

· Strike anyone with an object;

· Disrupt other students' learning;

· Use personal electronic devices during class without the teacher's permission.

Parent responsibilities:

· Drop off and pick up your child on time;

· Stay engaged with your child's schoolwork and progress;

· Ensure your child is properly dressed and prepared for class;

· Help keep common areas tidy;

· Support your child in following the rules of conduct;

· Cooperate with staff in handling any disciplinary matters involving your child.

13. Use of Learning Materials & System Accounts

System accounts, printed internal materials, test items, lecture notes, recorded videos, answer keys, and other teaching resources distributed to STEMRise students are provided solely for that student's own use during their enrolment at STEMRise.

Sharing these resources — in any form, including but not limited to photocopying, scanning, screenshots, forwarding, uploading, selling, or sharing account credentials — with non-STEMRise students or with third-party institutions is strictly prohibited.

If unauthorised sharing is discovered, STEMRise reserves the right to immediately terminate the remaining service for the offending account / student, and tuition already paid will not be refunded. In serious cases, we reserve the right to pursue legal remedies.

Copyright and ownership of these materials remain with STEMRise and its authorised licensors.

14. Refund / Withdrawal Process

Email info@stemrise.ai with: student name, enrolled course, order or payment date, and the reason for the refund.

We respond within 3 business days with the review outcome. Refunds typically arrive within 10 business days of approval, depending on the payment channel.

Refund amounts are computed on the actually-paid amount (net of any discounts), not on the original list price.

15. Non-Refundable Cases

Enrolments cancelled due to violations of classroom conduct that disrupt other students are not refundable.

Issued textbooks, equipment, and physical certificates are not refundable.

The registration fee is non-refundable; it is waived if the same student re-enrols in the following semester.

Tuition credits (including referral rewards) are not redeemable for cash and may only be applied to future tuition.

16. Policy Updates

Promotions, the terms of this policy, and fees are subject to change without notice; STEMRise reserves the right of final interpretation. Material changes are posted on this page with an updated date. Existing orders are governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
