OLC4O Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course
The graduation-requirement course for students who have not passed the OSSLT. Instead of retaking the test, OLC4O satisfies the literacy requirement as a full credit — focused, practical reading and writing with a portfolio as the evidence.
Inside the course
Reading strategies across informational and narrative texts
Summary, opinion and news-report writing
Revision: clarity, organization and conventions
Building and presenting the literacy portfolio
Where it leads
Clears the OSSLT graduation requirement — often the fastest way to de-risk a diploma timeline for a student who arrived mid-ladder.
PREREQUISITE
Eligibility: has attempted the OSSLT.
Assessment & credit
Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.
How we run it
Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
