SPH4U Physics, Grade 12 (University)
The physics credit virtually every engineering program requires: dynamics, momentum and energy, fields, wave optics and a first look at modern physics. Taken beside MCV4U, the two courses reinforce each other — vectors and rates of change appear in both, on purpose.
Inside the course
Dynamics: forces in two dimensions and circular motion
Energy and momentum, collisions and conservation
Gravitational, electric and magnetic fields
The wave nature of light: interference and diffraction
Modern physics: quantum and relativity introductions
Where it leads
Required for essentially all engineering programs and physical-science pathways; pairs with MCV4U and MHF4U in the standard engineering Top 6.
PREREQUISITE
Assessment & credit
Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.
How we run it
Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
