SCH4U Chemistry, Grade 12 (University)

G12
University prep
1 credit

The Grade 12 chemistry credit that engineering, life-science and health-science programs require: organic chemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium and electrochemistry. Equilibrium is the unit that separates averages — we give it double time.

What you’ll learn

Inside the course

Organic chemistry: functional groups and reactions

Structure and properties of matter

Energy changes and rates of reaction

Chemical systems and equilibrium

Electrochemistry: redox and cells

Where it leads

A named requirement for chemical/biomedical engineering and most life- and health-science programs; the standard SCH4U + SBI4U or SCH4U + SPH4U pairing covers nearly every science pathway.

Assessment & credit

Standard Ontario assessment: 70% coursework, 30% final evaluation. Completion ships as an official transcript, OUAC-listed and recognized by public and private schools.

How we run it

Small groups, online or in person (Markham campus); semester, summer and winter intakes, scheduled around the student’s Top 6 plan.
