Course overview
If your child loves playing Roblox, why simply limit their screen time when you can turn “playing games” into “making games”?
The STEMRise Roblox Game Development & Coding program is designed for young learners ages 7–16. Using Roblox Studio as their creative platform, students learn through structured, project-based lessons that help them grow from players into game designers, programmers, and project developers. With an emphasis on learning by building and playing, students develop foundational coding skills while creating levels, 3D models, game mechanics, multiplayer experiences, AI NPCs, and data-driven systems. By the end, they will have built, deployed, and published games of their own.
We want every child to do more than simply know how to play Roblox. We want them to say with confidence:
I designed this. I wrote the code. I built it and published it myself.
What classes look like
Turning a familiar interest into an approachable introduction to coding
By learning through Roblox, a platform students already know and enjoy, abstract concepts such as variables, loops, functions, and conditional logic become visible, playable game effects. This makes coding easier to understand and helps students stay motivated.
Authentic project-based learning
Students do not simply copy code from the teacher. They experience the complete game-development process, from concept and design to development, testing, and launch. The first three levels focus on bringing a game to life, while the final three introduce product design, operations, and business thinking.
A well-rounded blend of coding, 3D design, and product thinking
One course brings together Coding, 3D modeling, UI/UX, AI, data analysis, teamwork, and project management, giving students an experience that closely reflects a real STEM engineering project.
A real project at every stage
From a first Obby course to a multiplayer online game and eventually a complete product that can keep evolving, students gradually build a portfolio of their own projects.
What students will learn
Students will progressively develop skills in:
- Lua programming: variables, conditionals, loops, functions, events, and object-oriented thinking
- Roblox Studio: Part, Model, materials, Lighting, physics, and animation
- 3D environment and level design
- UI / UX and Figma product prototypes
- Multiplayer networking: Server / Client, RemoteEvent, and player-state synchronization
- AI NPCs: pathfinding, state machines, and Boss behavior logic
- Game data systems: DataStore, leaderboards, quests, and achievements
- Procedural generation and advanced physics
- Testing, Debug, and performance optimization
- Game publishing, player feedback, and data analysis
- Teamwork, Presentation, and project management
A 6-level progressive curriculum
| Level | Learning focus |
|---|---|
| Level 1|Game creation for complete beginners | Build a first original Roblox Obby while developing foundational coding skills and a developer mindset. |
| Level 2|Team game development | Learn collaborative development, UI, event-driven programming, and intermediate game mechanics while completing a multiplayer team project. |
| Level 3|A complete independent project | Learn core gameplay loops, OOP, performance optimization, and player data, then use real feedback to continually improve the game. |
| Level 4|Product thinking + multiplayer networking + AI NPCs | Begin with product design in Figma, then move into network architecture, multiplayer systems, and intelligent NPC development. |
| Level 5|Game economies and procedural content | Learn DataStore, virtual economies, procedural maps, leaderboards, achievements, and GDD game design. |
| Level 6|Commercial products and operations | Turn student projects into fully launched Roblox products while learning data analysis, A/B testing, product marketing, team management, and Pitch skills. |
Who this course is for and what your child will gain
From “always playing games” to exploring how games are made
Many children spend hours playing games without ever wondering why those games were designed the way they were. Once they begin thinking like developers, they start examining levels, code, game balance, user experience, and Bugs.
Games become more than entertainment. They become a gateway to learning and creativity.
Building real coding and modeling skills
Through hands-on projects, students turn abstract knowledge into tangible work and build a strong foundation for future study in Python, Java, Web, AI, Computer Science, and engineering.
Developing essential STEM skills
Creating a game is, at its core, a small engineering project. Students repeatedly work through the process of:
- Identifying a problem
- Designing a solution
- Coding the solution
- Debug
- Testing
- Gathering feedback
- Improving and iterating
Along the way, they naturally develop logical and systems thinking, creativity, an engineering mindset, data awareness, and problem-solving skills.
Turning an interest into a lasting advantage
At STEMRise, we want students to finish with more than “I took a coding course.” We want them to be able to say:
This is what I built. These are the problems I solved. This is what I can bring to life.
From enjoying Roblox to developing for Roblox, and from “I love playing games” to “I made this game,” this is the transformation STEMRise wants to help every child achieve: turning an interest into a lasting advantage.
Who this course is for
This Levels 2-3 stage suits students aged 7-16 who already play Roblox and are ready to build in it.
- A child aged 7-16 who plays Roblox for hours and whose parents would rather that time turned into building something
- A student who has finished a first Obby or Level 1 project and wants to work on UI, events and team development
- A young coder who can already finish a small game and now wants core gameplay loops, OOP and player data
- A family in the GTA looking for kids coding classes with a real, publishable project at the end rather than worksheets
- A student heading towards Python, Java, web or computer science later and wanting a project portfolio first
